This project has started with the intention to inform the public on the vast variety of the looms within Afrika. The technology of these looms contributed to the creation of a beautiful heritage of textiles throughout the continent.
Instead of the development and innovations of the loom, as it was in other parts of the world, the loom on the continent has almost disappeared. In some countries in Africa this heritage no longer exists.
At the Afrikan Loom , we want to tell it’s forgotten stories and where possible restore it and innovate it.
